Home from travel. TV stolen. not the computers or stereo or anything else, no, just a 9 year old 40" samsung from sams club.
So whats a good 46" for not a lot of coin? it would be nice to have something other than bookcase framed wall.

Don’t know if you can get Philips TV’s where you are located, but I recently had to buy a new TV as well and picked up a sub €500 UHD 43". From the Philips 6400 series:

Not quite the best in menu systems etc, but image quality is really nice in my non-expert opinion. Enough input options, Ambilight which I really enjoy and at least somewhat future proof with UHD and HDR. I went and bought it without doing much research, and am pleased without noticing any cons so far.
Not sure what you would consider not much coin though. Can’t help you with any other models.

Mostly anime, slow to get to the plot, really depends on the animators previous work and rewind feature takes up a lot of memory. Unless you like kids shows aimed at elementary students, Is suggest an actual TV.
There are tons of choices right now, but you may have to cut someone at an actual store. I’d also suggest ordering online.
Good luck.

I ran across a site (ca.rtings.com) not sure if it’s actually region specific.
Last time I checked, the technical answer seemed to be, pretty much all the Samsung TV’s are technically great value based on image quality. I’ve had a 40" plasma Panasonic for 5 years, so I’ll likely be looking for a new one soon too.

Have a 42" Pioneer plasma that was given to us ... alas, no one makes plasma TVs anymore.

There’s a whole lotta cyber monday deals going on if you want something that will just get the job done.

Got me one of those. They’re not bad for that kind of money but do have their flaws.

Who actually still steals TVs? The 80s are over.

I just got this 48" for my living room. Only has 2 HDMI, but that’s ok for where I’m using it.

Here’s where I get all my advice for electronics purchases:
http://thewirecutter.com/reviews/the-best-500-tv/
If you check out Amazon though, it’s a 2015 model so you can get 50" for under $500.

And then there’s the 50-inch model that’s newer:

In the same vein, my friends’ house got broken into:
Took the old 48" LCD (non-LED) TV, but left the $400 receiver underneath it.
Took the Xbox 360 driving wheel, but not the 32" Westinghouse LED TV (thing weighs, like, 8 lbs; we’ve mounted it to a wall with duct tape before)
Took the copy of Halo 4 but NO OTHER games of about 20ish. Didn’t take the XBoxes either.
Grabbed a jar of change that was hidden under a bed.
Thieves are deplorable, and sometimes very strange people.
